Elon Musk Says Tesla Will Provide Full Self-driving Beta This Year

If you buy the Full Self-Driving beta software from Tesla right now, there is a possibility that you will not be able to utilize it. It seems that the original equipment manufacturer is getting closer to the point where it will be comfortable permitting all drivers to obtain access to the capabilities of the technology that has been given out by the carmaker to an ever-growing number of Tesla drivers.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, stated during a webcast about the company’s financial results for the third quarter of 2022 that the beta version of Full Self-Driving should be made available to everyone who placed an order for it by the end of the year, despite the fact that the software is still being refined and improved.
On the other hand, Musk seems to have more and more faith in FSD’s capabilities. Musk said on the call that “you will practically never have to touch the car controls” while the vehicle is in operation. This prediction comes as a result of the consistent advancements that are being made. He also said that he expects Tesla will have sufficient evidence by the next year to persuade authorities that FSD is much safer than a car operated by a human being. He believes this will be possible. Musk said, with reference to FSD’s progress over the course of time, that “we nearly are there.”

There are around 160,000 Tesla owners that are able to use the possibilities of FSD at this time. Since September, the number of owners has increased by 100,000. If everything goes forward as planned, the next expansion will fall in line with Musk’s earlier projections and forecasts. However, it is not quite apparent how many people have really bought the program.

Since it was first made available, Tesla has slowly increased the price of adding FSD’s beta capabilities to a car that has already been bought. The price increased to $15,000 in September, which is almost twice as much as it was only two years earlier. It is still unknown if Tesla intends to implement a pricing increase in the near future.

Now that we’ve reached this point in the piece, it’s time for me to remind you, dear reader, that despite the fact that it’s called “Full Self-Driving,” the software that Tesla uses in its vehicles is not a completely autonomous driving system. At the present, it refers to a collection of innovative driver assistance systems that enables hands-free operation of the car, provided that the driver is completely aware and ready to take control of the vehicle at a moment’s notice.
