How To Clear Your Browser Cache

If you’re running out of storage space on your computer or mobile device, or you’re experiencing technical difficulties that you suspect may be related to a corrupted temporary file, clearing the browser cache is one of the easiest and most effective solutions. However, you may not be aware of this hidden function unless you have been told to clear your cache at some point in the past.

In the event that you need to revisit a previously viewed, but now forgotten, section of the Internet, your browser will keep that information for you permanently. Relationship partners, friends, coworkers, professors, and even law enforcement can all turn this information against you. Even if you never bothered to look at the site’s contents, that is of no concern. These days, a simple visit can provoke anger, blackmail, or any other form of retaliation you can imagine.

Here’s how to do it on all the major browsers and mobile platforms (Android, iOS). We’ve supplied instructions for deleting data from one location, and we’ve supplied instructions for doing so as well.

CHROME

  • For more options, select the ellipsis (…) in the top right.
  • Select More Tools > Clear Browsing Data… on the desktop version. For this, go to the app’s Settings > Privacy and security > Purge browsing history
  • Make sure to enable caching for pictures and files. If you want to be more particular about clearing your browsing history and cookies, you may do so by selecting the Advanced tab.
  • To specify how far back you wish to look, select a time range from the menu. (If you want the best results from emptying your cache, do it now.)
  • There’s a button labeled “Clear data,” which you should use.

MICROSOFT EDGE

  • Select more options by using the ellipsis ( ) in the top right corner.
  • Navigate to Preferences > Search, Privacy, and Services.
  • Find the section labeled “Clear browsing data,” then pick “Choose what to clear.”
  • Cached pictures and files should be enabled (and check any other data you want to clear out)
  • To filter results for the current hour, the previous 24 hours, the last 4 weeks, or all-time, use the Time range drop-down menu.
  • To proceed, please select the Clear button.

SAFARI

  • The desktop Safari browser’s history can be erased by selecting Safari > Clear History… from the menu bar.
  • Select the time range you wish to delete (the last hour, today, today, and yesterday, or all history) and then click the Clear History button.
  • Alternatively, you may access the History tab by tapping the Bookmarks icon (it looks like an open book) at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone (the clock).
  • Select the time frame you’re interested in by tapping the Clear button.

OPERA

  • To delete the cache, select all of them, then press the Delete key, followed by Ctrl and Shift Delete. The choices for clearing the cache will appear in a new window.
  • To clear all cached data in your browser, choose “since installation.”
  • Click the “Images and Files in Cache” button.
  • Click the “delete browser data” button to verify your changes.
  • Simply reload the page.

MOZILLA FIREFOX

  • Hit [Ctrl], [Shift], and [Del] all at once to do the corresponding action. “Clear recent history” is the title of the pop-up window that appears.
  • Select the time interval from which you wish the cache to be cleared. Last hour, last two hours, last four hours, today, or all are your possibilities.
  • To permanently erase everything, choose “All” from the menu’s pull-down.
  • After that, select the information you wish to remove by clicking the arrow next to “Details” and toggling the appropriate options. Select the “Cache” checkbox if you just want to clear the cache.
  • Simply select the “clear now” option will remove the cache.
  • Once you’re done, please refresh the page.
