Hackers Reportedly Launch a DDoS Attack Against the EU Parliament Website

Russian cybercriminals launched an attack on the website of the Parliament of the European Union and were successful in taking it offline for a number of hours.
It has been stated that Anonymous Russia, a subgroup of the pro-Russian hacktivist group Killnet, conducted a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack against the website of the European Parliament.
On her Twitter account, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, verified the event and said that “IT professionals are battling back against it and protecting our systems.”
Resolution adopted by the EU Parliament
According to what Dauche was quoted as saying, “The availability of the Europarl EN website is currently disrupted from the outside due to significant amounts of external network traffic.” “This traffic is associated with a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack that took place. The EP teams are working diligently to find a solution to this problem as rapidly as they can.”
It would appear that this act was carried out as retaliation for a resolution that had just been passed by the European Parliament labeling Russia as a state that “uses means of terrorism” and a state that “sponsors” terrorism.
According to a news article that was published on the website of the European Parliament, the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) called on the EU to “further isolate Russia internationally,” including with regard to Russia’s membership in international organizations and bodies such as the United Nations Security Council.
In addition, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) want diplomatic ties with Russia to be reduced, contacts between the EU and official representatives of the Russian government to be kept to an absolute minimum, and Russian state-affiliated institutions in the EU that spread propaganda around the world to be shut down and banned.
Killnet has been a somewhat active group as of late, despite the fact that it has not exactly established a reputation for itself. Recently, it was successful in taking down the websites of a number of airports located across the United States; however, this did not have any effect on the flights that were being operated. It also targeted JPMorgan Chase and the United States Treasury Department.
In each of these occurrences, the impacts have been somewhat modest, and the FBI has characterized the attacks as being quite weak.
